Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Mount Pleasant Area Junior High School, a learning community dedicated to providing you and your family a high quality education where students learn the life skills that will enable them to be successful for tomorrow.

Many factors have led to our school district’s success since 1965.  Bright and inquisitive students. Talented and caring teachers. Dedicated staff.  Loyal former students. A proud, hard-working community.

This fall, we celebrate our 55th anniversary as a joint school district.  And boy, is the 2020-2021 school year going to be different from all the other years before!  Many of the familiar routines and activities our junior high students experience will be different this year.  Hybrid learning, Schoology, online assessments, social distancing, face coverings, and Zoom have quickly become common in our daily vocabulary.  As we plan for the new school year, our focus will still be to ensure that every student: feels connected, feels challenged, and feels cared for.

The spring of 2020 has challenged all of us; to find creative solutions to our new environment.  What I learned the most through this process is how much I appreciated the expertise of our junior high staff at MPAJHS, the ways in which our students worked hard to finish school, seeing the community rallied around each other, and the appreciation of the little things in life- giving a fist bump to students in the hallways, telling corny dad jokes to hear the students laugh, or announcing the monthly student ambassadors.

Our school’s legacy reminds us of our obligation to support our children and neighbors, even in these new times.  It includes sharing our expertise through different platforms to improve the quality of life for our students, inviting the Mount Pleasant Area community virtually to our school, and finding new ways to make our community a part of our creative and hands-on learning programs.

Once again, we are very excited about this school year and for the opportunity to educate your child.  The planning of the new school year has been full of challenges... as well as new opportunities!  We look forward to continuing our partnership with you and your child to achieve the highest degree of excellence in their education.
