Description:

The Council on Substance Abuse and Youth (CSAY) is committed to the prevention and reduction of youth and adult substance abuse in our communities. We are dedicated to working together to provide education, encourage recovery and create social change to empower individuals to take a stand to end substance abuse in our schools. We are a student led coalition branch of the Countywide CSAY, with assistance and guidance from WeDAC (Westmoreland Drug and Alcohol Commission).

Mount Pleasant CSAY’s motto is “To see the change, you have to be the change”. We encourage good decision making and guide our members to be good role models for their peers. CSAY has a yearly goal of a community/county outreach project along with sponsoring our annual Health Fair, National Night Out held at Frick Park, and Red Ribbon Week activities. CSAY plans, organizes, and runs the annual Health Fair held in late April. Our members help set up, man tables, run concessions, and clean up at National Night Out held in August. CSAY also carries out other community projects including Project Sticker Shock twice a year (underage warning stickers on beer cases), JPO Family Fun Night kids pumpkin decorating, Drug and Alcohol Educational Radio Ads for WHJB (107.1) twice a year, and the Strengthening Families Program question panel.

This club is available for students grades 7 through 12.
